Library
The Art Center Design College Tucson and Albuquerque libraries currently house over 5,000 titles, 250 videos, 200 CD-ROMs, 80 art and liberal studies related magazine subscriptions, and 3 newspaper subscriptions, supporting the five educational disciplines.
The library’s electronic databases include EBSCO full text journals and magazines, Amigos Library Services, and the Tucson and Albuquerque Public Library systems. These databases can be accessed from 30 Windows and Macintosh Internet computers, which may also be used as word processors. Student studies support consists of color and b/w copiers, Macintosh computers, Windows-based PCs, drafting tables, plotters, color printers and bindery services.
LIBRARY MISSION STATEMENT
The Art Center Design College strives to be an exemplary force in Design Education by offering Associate and Bachelor's degree programs that prepare students to meet the competitive challenges of the Art and Design fields. The library, fully engaged in this collaborative educational process, creates an intellectual partnership with the students, faculty, and staff.
Guided at all times by the commitment to serve The Art Center Design College, the library shall:
1. Advance teaching, learning, and research
by building quality collections for present and future use.
2. Maintain and develop collections that support the Liberal Studies curriculum and emphasize critical and analytical thinking skills.
3. Acquire materials in sufficient quantity, depth, and diversity to support teaching and research in the specific areas taught at the College.
4. Prepare students for lifelong learning by teaching the library skills that are necessary for self-education and independent scholarly pursuit.
5. Respond to the changing state of knowledge and the curriculum by continually evaluating collections and services, implementing change as appropriate.
6. Increase understanding about the changing role of information in society and to empower students and faculty in their ability to locate, evaluate and critically use both print and online resources for research.
7. Promote and maintain a positive work environment for students, faculty and staff that supports the integrity of the Library.
8. Develop appropriate skills, training and motivation of library staff at all levels.
9. Uphold the American Library Association's "Bill of Rights".
